Anyone who wants a career long-term in marketing and thinks they don't need to pay attention to social media marketing anymore is going to end up having a short-term career in marketing.

loved this, specifically the pov that the best marketers are curators!

I'm really happy that people are writing about this, as someone who has made the transition myself (and written my own guide) - I went from community management to heading strategy at a brand studio. https://nikitawalia.substack.com/p/how-i-went-from-the-social-media

Branding is everything. And most importantly, YOU'RE the brand in everything you do.

Your character, reputation, actions, and flaws = your brand.

THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT CONVO I felt like I was in the room with both of you! As someone who pivoted from hotel operations to brand marketing - the most underrated thing is understanding where your coworkers from other departments are coming from. Understanding how everyone is looking at the brand from different angles and being brave to have the tough conversations. I love loved Rileys point on slow burn when it comes to really building a strong brand so many great pieces in here and such great questions✨🧡

As someone in the process of stepping toward a Brand Marketing role, I absolutely loved this interview! Honestly, I took so many notes in the margins of my to-do list. I come from a PR, social media, growth marketing, and most recently content marketing background, but with brand marketing I feel like I'm finally finding my calling and Riley's perspective really cemented that for me!

So glad to have found your account. I’m looking to connect with more marketing folks. I write about brand and culture and how they intersect and I think you’d like my work. Give it a read! Also subbed.

I LOVED this post and so glad I came across it. I especially loved the part about if you are working for a brand you need be making it a breathing living personality. It just clicked and made sense!

such a great read! I bounced from organic social to paid social marketing & now I’m trying to get into brand. with a background in graphic communication & love for design I really want to get more involved with brand storytelling, not just paying attention to paid ad performance. this post gave me a lot to think about!
